Summer 2018

Debt Check – 91%

Summa...Summa....Summa... TIME!

BOMB SHELL ANNOUCEMENT!!!

Summer 2018 has been the best summer of my life, thus far. I didn't travel anywhere extravagant and I didn't do anything over the top. But I did finally start to see the light at the end of this tunnel.

On July 28, 2018 - I OFFICIALLY paid off all of my student loans by making the final payment on my graduate school loans. I don't owe University of Maryland or American NATHING! (Yes, nothing was misspelled on purpose). It's so surreal that I finished my graduate loans within days of the 1 year anniversary of paying off my undergraduate loans. I'm so happy that I am officially free from working in a career field that I no longer enjoy out of sheer financial imprisonment.

Let me explain. I wasn't willing to move out of my current field or switch career paths with student loan debt related to it hanging over my head. I accumulated thousands of student loans related to working in this career field and when I found a different passion, I needed to "close the door" here by eliminating all the baggage attached to this field. I can officially say that I did just that and I'm free.

Now that it's August, I only have one form of debt left... my car note. I've been whittling away at that one too!

Let's check in why don't we:

My debt as of 08/30/18:

Student Loans: ZERO

Down from ~45,000

Car: ~3,250

Down from ~13,250

Credit Cards: ~450 (I rented a car to visit my dad and wanted to use the card's insurance protection on it...Don't worry, I'm paying it off with cash as I type this!)

Down from ~5,000

The needle is moving ya'll!!!! I'm almost there!!!

Side bar: A lot of people have been asking me questions like, "How did you do it? Did you eat PB&J every day? Did you use Dave Ramsey? Can you show me how? etc." So what I want to do is use my next post to address ALL of your questions. It's going to be lengthy and talk about the good, the bad and the ugly! So send me your questions! What do you REALLY want to know about the process? What details do you want about how I paid off upwards of ~$60,000 in 2.5 years and ~80,000 overall? ::insert humble brag/I'm pressed::

You have my word: I'm going to write another post when I make the final car note payment next week.

XOXO,

Teonna
